Work on the Mojave Desert and Southwest Mountains Railroad has been very slow this summer. I was hoping to get out and do some significant work this summer; but alas, between coaching cross country, sleeping in in the mornings, getting some honey-do's done, and the heat the pike has been largely neglected. I did, however, get started on a few figures that will populate the layout. I used the article on figure sculpting at myLargescale.com (http://www.mylargescale.com/
articles/articles/figureclass/ch1/figures-01.asp
).
I obviously still need to get out the paint and brushes. Below are my first three figures.

This is Ernest. He is standing on the rear deck of the caboose I am buiding.

I took this picture of William sitting in his seat in the cupula of the caboose. The body of the caboose was removed first.

Here is another picture of William seated on the steps of the caboose.

This is William waving to us from the caboose.

Ken was sculpted for a friend. One of the peaves we have is that no one makes drivers for all the various die cast cars that are available. I sculpted Ken specifically to fit into the driver's seat of this 1937 Ford. Before he was baked and was still flexible, the fit was perfect. After he got baked and lost all his flex, he could no longer squeeze past the door. There is a good probability that he will end up on a station bench reading a newspaper.

Here are my first three figures shooting the breeze from the pickup bed. Behind them is my caboose, also the first serious attempt at scratchbuilding moving stock.
