Our March 21, 2009, hike took us to Cirlce X Ranch in the Santa Monica Mountains north of Malibu at 12896 Yerba Buena Road. It was a misty day, and we had a harder time than we thought we would finding the old Boy Scout camp. Our hike started an hour later than we had planned, and our picnic lunch was put off for lack of a dry place to sit and eat. We discovered, when we looked at a map after the hike, that we had not made it to the Grotto but had stopped hiking at Happy Hollows. Never-the-less, it was an amazing day to hike.
The mist was so light we did not feel at all wet, but everything was covered in droplets of water which made for some pretty amazing photos.
Our friend Marva joined Susan and me as we walked the road from the ranger station to the trail head. Unfortunately, Christine got lost and had to wait until the redux to hike this beautiful trail.
