On May 2, 2009, we returned to Circle X Ranch in the Santa Monica Mountains north of Malibu for a second try at finding The Grotto. We called this hike Grotto Redux. Hiking weather was on the warm side perfect. We had mostly overcast skies to keep the temperatures down. This second hike to the Grotto was dry in strong contrast to the mist drenched trip we made the first time. We added three hikers to our group, and I packed in the lunch we ate at Happy Hollows where we ended out hike the first time. A whole new set of wild flowers graced our hike.
