Andy's Cyber Ride: Mojave Desert and Southwest Mountains Railroad G scale garden railroading

June 21, 2005

The photos on this page are after work on the pike on Monday and Tuesday, June 20 and 21.

I finally got moving on the operations patio in the southeast corner of the yard. I had a scoop of sand that has been sitting here waiting for a few months and decided it was time to get it leveled and the pavers down. Monday I got about a quarter of the pavers in place. I realized early in the process that I did not have enough sand to complete the job.

Tuesday I got another load (scoop) of sand and finished the job. I soaked and tamped the sand well before putting down the pavers, so they should be well set. I will wait until we get back from our two week vacation before mixing cement with the little bit of sand I have left over and filling the spaces between the pavers. I'll then wash the pavers letting the water soak the mix to provide a grout that is supposed to keep the weeds out.

Here is a stitched photo of the entire layout from the ops patio. I guess I could have moved the saw horses I have been using for trestle construction. Even so you get a fairly good idea what the layout looks like up to now.
