About half way through the hike, we found a last place for a break before we headed into the sun and climb up to falls. We were beginning to feel the warmth and were glad we had not hiked the week before when temperatures were in the 90's.
The San Gabriel Mountains back from where we came.
About an 1/8 of a mile before the falls, the trail makes a sharp left turn revealing the falls.
Our hiking group spent a few minutes in the cool at the bottom of the falls before returning back the way we came.
These falls are beautiful. We think an earlier start time would get us past the climb before the heat sets in. Another option with this trail is to make it an over-nighter by hiking another mile and an half to the Tom Lucas Trail Camp. The hike is in the wilderness area and requires a Wilderness Area parking pass for vehicles.
